Phone consultation
We'll talk through any questions you may have to get a better understanding of you, your home and what you are wanting to achieve. By asking a few key questions we are also able to work out who is best to come to the in-home consult with you from our team. For example, for any structural advice, we'll send one of our Master Builders, for colour and layout design, we'll send an interior designer.
We will also ascertain whether we believe you may or may not need a building consent and drawings completed.
In home consultation
During an in-home consultation, we complete a full site measure and take any further notes on the possibilities for your renovation, such as look, feel or use of space.
If required, we'll discuss the building consent and drawings process during this visit, and we'll also draw up an existing and proposed site plan, take photos and talk you through your options for fittings and finishings.
Pricing
Following the in-home consultation, we'll pass on your renovation information to our specialist team of Quantity Surveyors (QS for short). From here, they will confirm a quote for your renovation. This price will be a fixed price, meaning everything that has been allowed for in the price will be completed for a fixed budget. Note, there sometimes can be exclusions, however, this will be clearly identified in the quote.
Pricing can take anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks depending on the complexity and size of your renovation, and while we try to avoid any hold ups to this, wait times can be extended if plans are still due from the draughtsman or architect, but we will always keep you informed.
Presentation of price
The quote will normally be emailed through to you so you can have some time to yourself to look over it and talk it through with your friends and family, followed by a quick call from us to check in that you received it ok. We'll also make a time to give you a call back to go through the quote in detail with you, answer any questions you have or your family might have and make any updates you would like.
Acceptance
Once you have accepted our quote, we will issue a deposit for 25% of the invoice total. This starts the process of us ordering all the materials we will need for your renovation. Once this is paid, our operations team will also be in touch to organise the start date for your project.
Construction
Construction can anywhere between 2 weeks and a couple of months depending on the complexity and scale of your renovation.
If you're renovating a high traffic space like a bathroom or kitchen, we recommend having a think about what plans or provisions you need to consider while they're out of action, as for these spaces you usually need to go without them while our team is bringing your dream to life. For example, if you're renovating a bathroom consider if you need to move out, make use of a friend's or family member's or alternatively, we can arrange a rental bathroom for you. Much like a porta com, a rental bathroom means you have access to facilities on your own site. These are available from $350 per week and feature a toilet, shower and basin.
Your renovated home
Once we're all finished well organise any final sign off from the council if required, or provide you with all the compliance paperwork, such as sign-offs from a Licensed Building Practitioner (LBP) or Electrical Safety Certificates before we hand you back over to have free reign of your newly renovated space.
